I am really delighted to announce two new books of some of my favorite landscape work. Both books made possible by new, state-of-the-art short-run printing technology.
In the past, publishing a photo book meant printing a minimum of 5 or 6 thousand copies. And this in turn meant that small publishers, like Western Eye, could hardly take a chance on books without a wide popular appeal. It's a new world today, and I am eagerly embracing new high-tech options for producing stunning new photo books.
My first venture into this brave new world of short-run and on-demand art printing is Forests of Light, a book that celebrates almost 30 years of photography among the aspen forests of the Rocky Mountains. Forests of Light is a 120 page hard-bound book, available in two editions, two different formats. The first, a large-format, deluxe edtion is 13 x 11 inches in size, and is limited to 500 numbered copies, a real collector's edition. Each deluxe edition comes with a an original archival fine-art print of one of my favorite images from the book (a 6x9 inch image on 11x13 inch paper, the same beautiful archival paper I use for my larger fine-art prints). My second new book this year is Blue Light, a beautifully printed ink-on- paper monograph-sized book about the Marble Caverns of Patagonia. Blue Light is a 40-page book, available only in a standard 10x8 inch hard bound edition. And yes, the images in this book are indeed the same ones that you will find in my eBook version of Blue Light. Naturally the design and book layout is different. And to be sure, the feel of abeutifully printed book in your hand is quite different than that of an eBook on a computer screen.
