Autumn colors in the cottonwoods behind the dunes...

Autumn in America’s newest National Park is magical. The low autumn sun casts strong shadows in the dunes, nearby aspen and cottonwood stands are full of color. And the 14,000 foot peaks of the Sangre de Cristo range add extra drama to this scene—a mecca for landscape photography. We will concentrate on the shapes and textures of the dunes in early and late light. During the middle of the day we will explore the high-country forest and meadowlands behind the dunes to photograph the brilliant fall foliage. We will also be able to photograph bison herds and old homesteads.

This is an opportunity for photographers of all skill levels to develop their personal vision, expand creativity and experiment with new techniques.
This workshop is not limited to digital photography, however most photographers nowadays are shooting digitally, which will allow us to download and critique images every day, as well as project images for the group to see. This workshop is based at the Nature Conservancy's Medano-Zapata Ranch, just south of the Great Sand Dunes Park in the San Luis Valley of south-central Colorado. Great rooms, great food, and above all, great people, make this Nature Conservancy workshop center a very special place.

To reserve your space in this workshop, please contact the Nature Conservancy's Outreach Director, Audrey Wolk. Email her at awolk@tnc.org or phone her at 729 974 7011 (office) or 303 249 3756 (cell phone). A $200 deposit will reserve your place.
